Time Out says

A new festival dedicated to all things design and art (you guessed it), Designart is set to take over central Tokyo from Aoyama to Shibuya, Nakameguro and Roppongi for one week in October. The brainchild of designer Akio Aoki, artist Shun Kawakami and architects Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham, it'll see shops, galleries, cafés, restaurants and a wide range of other venues host work by more than 70 artists from both Japan and elsewhere. The full list of exhibitors and venues can be viewed in English here. One highlight will be the October 16 opening ceremony at Omotesando Hills, which includes a special edition of Tokyo's much-loved PechaKucha Night. The all-star presenters on the day include Noritaka Tatehana, the designer of Lady Gaga's 'heel-less heels', designer-engineer Moritz Waldemeyer, and Swedish design and architecture superstars Claesson Koivisto Rune. Their talks will be followed by an afterparty with DJ Quietstorm, and it's all free – no need to register.
