When one pictures what the end of the world might look like, dystopian visions of war, environmental destruction and nuclear accidents are normally the first things that come to mind. But if we take into account how we are already experiencing all of these things to a certain degree, in a way, we have already reached the ‘end of the world’ as prophesied in both scientific and religious texts.
Featuring the works of some of the most celebrated artists of our time including Yayoi Kusama, Anish Kapoor and Maki Ohkojima, this group exhibition explores the concept of anthropocentrism in the face of man-made disasters. Through sculptures, multi-media art, photographs and paintings, these artists push viewers to reevaluate their notions of existence, purpose and hierarchy in the context of our environmental surroundings.
