You’ve seen his giant mural on the Marunouchi cityscape for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Now, legendary Japanese graphic designer and artist Tadanori Yokoo is hosting his own exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo. It is a massive retrospective, covering more than 600 artworks created over his 60-year career.
The showcase features many pieces previously seen at his largest-ever exhibition at the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art, along with 30 never-before-seen paintings Yokoo created during the Covid-19 pandemic. Most impressive of all, however, is his ‘Waterfall’ installation, where he lined a mirrored room with over 10,000 postcards of waterfalls to create a jaw-dropping installation.
