Time Out says

Julian Opie is a British artist best known for his colourful pictograms of natural landscapes and city people. In this small yet fascinating exhibition at the Maho Kubota Gallery, Opie presents eight paintings and five video works that capture one of the earliest forms of non-verbal communication – dance. Through depictions of pole dancers, urban rave shufflers and TikTok choreographers, Opie encapsulates the diverse range of platforms that dance dominates in our modern world and the unexpected ways it has shaped our society. While the figures are drawn in Opie’s signature style with minimalist silhouettes, the dancers’ personalities in each piece are distinctly unique and immediately apparent.
