Time Out says

The 33 pilgrimage sites of Western Japan are Buddhist temples that venerate Kannon, the bodhisattva of compassion. Considered the oldest pilgrimage route in the country, it's said to date back to the 8th century. The seven-prefecture, 1,000-kilometre journey is the focus of this exhibition at the Kyoto National Museum, which celebrates the 1,300th anniversary of the 33-Temple Pilgrimage through a display of ancient Kannon statues from the temples and other pieces of religious art. Some of the exhibits will be changed during the exhibition period.

Note: The dates and opening hours of this exhibition may change due to the Covid-19 coronavirus outbreak. Please see the official website for the latest details.
