Time Out says

Despite vividly documenting the Japanese protest movements of the '60s and '70s and picking up the prestigious Kimura Ihei Award in 1975, Kazuo Kitai has never attracted the same degree of renown as contemporaries like Daido Moriyama. Somehow Familiar Places is in fact his first solo exhibition, covering the full swathe of the photographer's career, from his early 'Barricade' and 'Sanrizuka' series (pictured) to his more recent documents of post-Bubble Era Japan.
