Best known for his noise-making antics as Violent Onsen Geisha and Hair Stylistics, Masaya Nakahara is also a prolific film critic, cultural commentator and artist. The multi-talented provocateur will be exhibiting his artwork at Sprout Curation this month, focussing on dense, dark ballpoint scrawls that were the product of automatic drawing. There's an opening reception from 6-8pm on March 17, and Nakahara will be performing as Hair Stylistics on March 23 (Friday), 31 (Saturday) and April 7 (Saturday), in collaborations with Carre, Atsuhiro 'Optrum' Ito, and Yoko Higashino and Toshio Kajiwa, respectively. Note that the exhibition itself is free, but the performances (from 7pm) cost ¥800, or ¥1,000 including one drink.
