‘Nature of Change’ is a collaboration between ceramicist Sofia Solamente and photographer Yulia Skogoreva. Sofia and Yulia, both based in Tokyo but with different cultural backgrounds, explore the idea of change and the nature of movement through different mediums to reflect fragility, beauty and strength.
The project takes a philosophical and poetic look at transformation, a concept that we are all too familiar with at this challenging time. Physical and emotional isolation, the need for meaningful connections, and the feeling of hopelessness are given a physical form through ceramic and accompanied by a photographic study.
The elegant shapes of the objects, when combined with the agility of a dancer’s body captured on film create an ephemeral marriage of movements, thus raising awareness of the body in a poetic manner.
The opening night on Thursday October 15 is divided into two sessions: 5.30pm-6.50pm and 7pm-8.50pm. Advance reservations are required via Peatix (free).
