Time Out says

Ryo Shinagawa explores traditional Japanese painting techniques from a modern perspective in this solo exhibition at Tsutaya Ginza's gallery room. In this series of works themed around nature, Shinagawa combines abstract expressionism with bold brush strokes used for traditional Japanese calligraphy to paint flowers and branches. In addition to incorporating abstract styles in his work, Shinagawa also uses materials such as metallic foil and mineral pigments to produce works that could only be created in the modern day.
