This exhibition selects 180 pieces from the collection of Swiss master Paul Klee, surely one of the most recognisable and prolific modern European artists, whose total output is thought to have included some 9,000 pieces. The works on display here have been lent by the Paul Klee Centre in Berne, Switzerland, and are presented with the aim of demonstrating Klee's work in progress, though the period they cover will also be of interest: the artist used his painting as an outlet for the suffering of his final years, leading up to his death from scleroderma in 1940.
