Prayers to Water

Rites and beliefs related to water have played a central part in Japanese religion since ancient times, with both Shinto and Buddhism drawing on the life-bringing liquid as a source of divinity. Featuring pieces selected from the Suntory Museum's collection of over 3,000 works of Japanese art, 'Prayers to Water' is divided into six sections, with themes including 'Water Utopias', 'Water and Good Fortune' and 'Sacred Water Sites' – a comprehensive look at the spiritual side of H2O, in other words.
