A veteran of the Paris and New York art scenes, Maebashi-born Sanae Takahata has been a force to be reckoned with in the field of Japanese contemporary art for decades. Her latest show is held at Marunouchi's H.P. France Window Gallery and consists of both paintings and Takahata's personal objects called 'Pieces of Earth'. Around 200 of these, made from the remains of antique jewellery, beads and other items from Eastern Europe, complement her 'Protect Life' works – statements on the many fears and crises faced by modern society. An opening reception with the artist present will be held on September 23 (7-9pm).
