Time Out says

UltraSuperNew Kura presents ‘Shape of Light’, a solo exhibition by contemporary abstract artist Lin Syouki. The eighth exhibition at Kura, ‘Shape of Light’ delves into a visual dialogue between light, the viewer and the artwork, contemplating the delicate nature of perception and existence.

Originally from China and now based in Tokyo, Lin draws inspiration from spatialist theory, exploring the relationship between light, space and form. In this latest series, she incorporates retroreflective materials – once studied in 19th-century optics and now found in modern sportswear – which transform the appearance of each piece based on lighting and the viewer’s perspective, creating a dynamic and ever-changing visual experience.
