The year 2019 marks not only the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito but also the new ‘Reiwa’
era. For this occasion, Tokyo National Museum is exhibiting important cultural artefacts from the Shoso-in (treasure house of Todai-ji temple) and Horyu-ji temple in Nara, handed down by the Imperial household. Expect numerous culturally and historically important scrolls, paintings and other relics from the Asuka and Nara periods (593-794).
