Time Out says

Part of the Osumi island chain in Kyushu's Kagoshima prefecture, Tanegashima is Japan's answer to Cape Canaveral. The island hosts JAXA's Tanegashima Space Center and its associated launch complexes, from which Japanese satellites and rockets are launched into space. This new art festival is set to take over the entire area with a range of 'art meets science' projects, events and pieces, created by domestic heavy-hitters including Hiroyuki Moriwaki, Tetsuya Nakamura, Noboru Tsubaki and Yoshiaki Kaihatsu. The programme includes a pop-up planetarium in a beachside cave (November 2-5), a 'midnight café' where you can combine snacking with stargazing, and large installations set up in some of the island's prettiest parts.
