Specimens of Time

Presenting his first-ever solo exhibit, Shanghai-based artist and art director Ling Meng takes over Shibuya's Diesel Gallery with his meditations on nature and science. Depicting both artificial and naturally occurring patterns and shapes with organic material like leaves, tree branches and rocks, these pieces record moments in the great stream of time, which brings with it decay and revival in the natural world. Fittingly for a man who makes advertisements for a living, Meng is proficient in a wide range of media, including typography, photography and computer design.
