Time Out says

UPDATE: The three workshops are now fully booked, but it's still possible to attend the demonstrations from 3pm on each day. Tama-chan will be doing an additional workshop on May 11.

Traditional rolled sushi is nice enough, but haven't you ever wished you could make it look a little more interesting – a little more like, say, a Mondrian painting or portrait of Tutankhamun? Illustrator Takayo Chiyota, aka Tama-chan, crafts some of the cutest makizushi you've ever seen, and she'll be teaching a few of her tricks at a trio of workshops during Golden Week. Each session starts with a demonstration, in which Tama-chan shows how to make her ultra-kawaii concoctions and 'tell a story on a plate', after which attendants will be invited to make their own cack-handed attempts. With English instruction available, this promises to be a foreigner-friendly event, though spaces are limited to 10 people each day; reserve now by phone, or by emailing ab@l-amusee.com.
