Time Out says

This event is not in Tokyo, but in Oita prefecture.

Already in its fifth run this year, In Beppu is a solo exhibition-style art festival that invites one internationally renowned artist to Beppu in Oita prefecture each year for an art project highlighting the region’s distinctive characteristics. This year, you can look forward to an exhibition that focuses on works by Tetsuya Umeda, who’s active across various fields including music, art and performing arts. The event takes place at multiple places throughout Beppu city.

Look out for the interactive work ‘Zero Tai’ that lets you travel around several places in the city by using a map and a radio. Make sure to catch the correspondent movie that will be shown at Beppu Bluebird Kaikan. Screening days vary by date, check the official website for details. Advance reservations are not required and participation is free.

Some of the artworks and related events will also be distributed online during the exhibition for those who can’t make it to Beppu.
