Time Out says

Now on show at Scai the Bathhouse is Toshikatsu Endo’s first solo exhibition in seven years. The Gifu-born artist is considered to be one of the most prominent figures in Japan’s contemporary art scene and is known for his breathtaking sculptures using fired wood and clay along with water, metal and other natural materials.

Since he first began creating art in 1970, many of Endo’s projects have been centred on exploring the concepts of life and human nature – and this exhibition is no exception. With installations like the charred black coffin in 'Allegory V – Lead Coffin II' and ‘Mirror Phase’ which gives a nod to the work of psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan, Endo’s showcase is a raw and reverent exploration of humanity and the way we live.
