As demolition crews get ready to reduce the old Tokyo Denki University building in Kanda to rubble, the tower has been temporarily transformed into a gargantuan art gallery, with artists from a range of disciplines – be it architecture, fashion or oddball performance art – taking over all 19 floors of the tower. Anyone who caught the No Man's Land exhibition at the old French Embassy a few years ago should know what to expect, but Trans Arts Tokyo outstrips the scale of that event by a good few orders of magnitude – and chaos. Think of it as Die Hard for the community art scene.
