The National Art Center, Tokyo will bring European and Hungarian masterpieces amassed by the Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest and the Hungarian National Gallery to Tokyo. The exhibition is held to commemorate 150 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and Hungary.

The Museum of Fine Arts, Budapest houses an extensive collection of European art from Renaissance paintings to early 20th century sculptures, while the Hungarian National Gallery specialises more in Hungarian art, just as it name suggests. In 2012, the two museums came together under one management; since then both institutions take turns in rotating their combined collections. Approximately 130 works of arts ranging from Cranach, Titian and El Greco to Renoir and Monet as well as paintings and objects by Hungarian artists of the 19th and 20th century will be on display.
