Paru Itagaki’s Creative World: from Beastars, Sanda to Taika’s Reason
Over the past decade, Paru Itagaki has emerged as one of the most distinctive figures in contemporary manga. Known for her bold storytelling and expressive visual style, Itagaki gained international recognition with the acclaimed series Beastars, whose anthropomorphic characters explore complex themes of identity, instinct and society. Her later works, including Sanda and Taika’s Reason, continue to showcase her ability to blend imaginative worlds with deeply human emotion.
Held at the Warehouse Terrada G3 Building, ‘Paru Itagaki’s Creative World: from Beastars, Sanda to Taika’s Reason’ is a major exhibition that celebrates the tenth anniversary of the artist’s career. The show brings together more than 200 original artworks and manga manuscripts drawn by Itagaki, offering a rare opportunity to view the hand-crafted pages and colour illustrations behind some of her most memorable scenes.
Organised as a journey through its protagonist’s creative trajectory, from her debut work Beast Complex to her latest serialisations, the exhibition also features immersive elements. Three-dimensional dioramas recreate iconic moments from Beastars and Sanda, while special displays explore the artist’s personality through episodes from her autobiographical comic Parno Graffiti.
With original drawings, spatial installations and exclusive merchandise, the exhibition invites visitors to step directly into the imaginative universe that has captivated readers worldwide.
