Tokyo Streets X
Tokyo Streets returns with its sixth multidisciplinary showcase, Tokyo Streets X, taking over WPU Gallery Shinjuku from October 27 to November 1. Expanding beyond its street photography roots, the week-long exhibition brings together portraiture and street photography with other forms of visual art, including illustrations and drawings, alongside DJ sets, spotlighting both local and international creatives.
Expect to see prints by talented photographers such as Lord K2, Nicola Antoazzo, Estevan Oriol, Nene and Yusuke Nagata, as well as illustrations by artists Elena Malva, Kitonike, Romy D and Beautiful Genius, among others. Free to enter, the show is an easy stop for anyone keen to tap into Tokyo’s contemporary photography and art scene.
Time your visit for the reception on Saturday October 31 (from 5pm; ¥500 entry), when the exhibit’s resident DJs spin soul, hip-hop and funk and special guests come together for a lively closing-weekend celebration. For those keen to explore Shinjuku with a camera, join the photowalk happening on Friday October 30 from 8pm. (¥3,000 per person) There's also a ticketed Kabukicho graffiti tour with Elena Calderon on Tuesday October 27 from 8pm.
