Mega water theme park Tokyo Summerland is celebrating Golden Week (except May 2 and 6) in a big way this year. There's now a new addition to the park to complement its popular indoor and outdoor pools. With the latest water slide, Dekasla (meaning ‘big slide’ in Japanese), you’ll ride down the tube on a floatie in a group of four to five people, before spinning around on a huge plate-like structure.
There will also be some pop-up attractions just for the holidays, including a floating bike (¥300 per person, ¥500 per two people) to ride across the water, and warm bathing spots to comfort you after a cold dip in the pool. Thrill seekers should go for the two-person Screamer slide, while children are recommended to play in the Adventure Fall where they can enjoy mini rock climbing, tunnels, waterfalls and suspension bridges.
On May 3 and May 5, make sure to visit the Aozora Park where you can snack on hoof-shaped churros and pet friendly little ponies and miniature horses. Over at the Adventure Stadium, you can also watch a free cheerleading show (11.15am and 1.15pm on May 3) performed by the local university’s cheerleading squad.
