Time Out says

Renkeiji is a Buddhist temple located in Kawagoe, built in 1549 after the Battle of Kawagoe. On the 8th of every month they hold a fair to commemorate Donryu, a priest who helped stop the practice of babies being killed due to families in poverty, and used to visit the temple several times during the Edo period.

The temple has delicious eateries on site such as a long-running dango shop popular for their grilled ¥80 mitarashi (sweet soy sauce glaze) dango, and yakisoba stand serving ¥300 street noodles.
