Time Out says

In Japanese, hanchika means half underground, which describes exactly where this izakaya is located – the Japanese pub is ticked away down a short ramp (or a few steps) in a parking lot in Shibuya. Although it's an almost-basement bar, Hanchika is not stuffy at all. The venue is clear and spacious with windows offering natural light and an outdoor terrace area. You’ll even find bonsai trees here and there to add a touch of nature.

The main menu offers traditional izakaya dishes like karaage (¥638), plus international offerings including yum woon sen (Thai vermicelli salad; ¥748) and six types of Chinese steamed dumplings including shrimp, lamb, and sansho pepper (¥1,232; four pieces).

As for the drinks, the place serves classic izakaya thirst-quenchers like lemon sours and beer, along with original beverages including a raisin highball (¥660) and five varieties of homemade liqueur (¥660). There is also a large selection of sake and wine including rosé and orange, perfect to enjoy on Hanchika’s terrace in summer.

If you'd like to book a table, drop Hanchika's Instagram account a message, or you can just walk right in.
