He & Bar (Heiando Bar)

Run by Yamada Heiando, a venerable lacquerware shop now based at Daikanyama's Hillside Terrace, this newly opened Roppongi bar brings the company's ornately decorated pieces to life. A remakable urushi counter stretches across the glistening space, and sake is served from gold-and-black lacquer cups fit for an emperor. You can also order champagne and mojitos, but take note: there's a ¥1,500 cover charge, and drink prices start from around ¥1,000. Still, for a one-off experience, this slickest of boozers just might be worth it.
