The Shangri-La Tokyo hotel in the heart of the Marunouchi financial district is offering a limited-edition autumn menu at the 28th-floor Lobby Lounge. The highlight is the sophisticated Mont Blanc Parfait (¥4,180), a decadent layered dessert consisting of rum jelly and combining autumn flavours like candied chestnuts and pears.
Cassis and La France pear sorbet containing pears simmered in Poire Williams pear brandy add a fruity twist, while the top is finished with Mont Blanc cream and a touch of gold leaf. The presentation changes with the season, too. In October, expect a Halloween-inspired look with bat cookies and ghost meringues, while November brings a pistachio cigar on the side.
There are also two autumn cocktails designed for those longer, cooler evenings (¥2,640 each). Amber Notes is a dessert-style drink made with chestnut liqueur, syrup, espresso and hazelnut, while the Akishimo (Autumn Frost) takes a more refreshing route, mixing sweet potato shochu with pear syrup in a martini.
