Set into a lofty former warehouse, a size rarely encountered in snugly fit Tokyo, this brewery is popular with both locals and visitors to the city. It may be owned by beer behemoth Kirin but Spring Valley Brewery offers beers of the craft variety. They are brewed on-site, visible behind enormous glass panels.
The brewery’s six-variety lineup includes the crisp, bitter 496; the rich, fragrant After Dark; and the raspberry juice-infused Jazzberry. We recommend trying out the beer flight (¥1,000), which lets you sample the entire lineup in 120ml taster portions. The food is also on point, encompasses a selection of upmarket pub grub like charcuterie, burrata caprese, quinoa tabouli, pizza and Spring Valley beer-battered fish and chips. Each of the menu items comes with suggested beer pairings to help make your decisions easier. There's an outdoor area to make the most of the good weather, and you can combine your visit with a wander through the rest of the Log Road development and trendy Daikanyama area.
