A desire to spread the word about excellent imported beer directly to drinkers inspired the former wholesaler behind this open-concept standing bar to take his brew game to the streets of Koenji. And with an obsessively curated selection of 10 beers on tap, along with dozens more in the fridge, it’s been no surprise to see Nom eagerly embraced by the neighbourhood since opening in July 2026.
Highlights on our most recent visit included 33 Acres of Nirvana, a refreshing IPA from Vancouver’s 33 Acres Brewing Company, and a Sichuan pepper-infused pilsner from Hong Kong’s Young Master Brewery. We also enjoyed the ‘NOM-style’ red eye, mixed with an XPA from Double Vision Brewing in New Zealand.
Not all that into beer? No problem – the cocktail menu is extensive too, headlined by a daily rum highball selected by the rum-focused Bar Dop nearby. Non-alcoholic beers and wine are also available, as is a mouthwatering array of pub grub from currywurst to more figure-friendly options like pickled daylily buds, a favourite at Koenji’s much-missed ‘medicinal cuisine’ eatery 168 Kitchen back in the day.
