Time Out says
Following the success of The SG Club – recently named best bar in Japan and one of the top ten bars on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2020 list – SG Group has opened its second bar in Tokyo, this time inspired by the old school kissaten (coffee shops) of the Taisho era (1912-1926).
The Bellwood, located just 500 metres from its sister venue, is open from 9am (yes, even on weekdays) and serves cocktails all day. The boozy drinks feature alongside menu items that put a modern twist on classic kissaten bites like egg salad sandwiches and hayashi rice.
The cocktail list is created by legendary bartender and Chivas Masters World Champion Atsushi Suzuki, and includes inventive concotions such as the frozen coffee-based Udabra, made with Bacardi Ocho, café con leche and sesame, designed to pair with dishes like the pork cutlet salad made with organic produce from Ome Farm.
In fact, there are recommended drink pairings for all the dishes served throughout breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the venue is also planning to open a second, smaller bar in a back room dedicated to cocktail and food pairings. More details on that back room will be announced at a later date.
