Maybe you can’t afford to live in Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, but you can now make your room smell like some very familiar Japanese candies. The market for fragrant candles and incense is already expanding at breakneck pace, making our rooms smell like flowers, berries or pine trees, but incense recreating the aromas of your childhood treats sure is something new.

Big-time candle and incense makers Kameyama have teamed up with a number of Japanese candy brands to create incense especially for those of us with a sweet tooth. Flavours include Milky, Sakuma Ichigo Milk, Sakuma Drops, Melon Caramel, Kitami Hakka (mint) and Botan-ame – all classic sweets that have been around for decades.

Packaged in palm-sized, deceptively candy-like boxes, the fragrant incense costs ¥600, with each stick burning for about 19 minutes (very precise, yes). Maybe you’ll save some cash and cut calories by opting for these delicious-smelling creations – or maybe they'll just have you craving the real thing even more. Visit their website to check out all the other bizarre and interesting products on offer: our favourites include the One Cup Ozeki candles and sushi-shaped wax lights.
