Burst Night!!! – Gakuryu Ishii as Sogo Ishii

Waseda Shochiku's all-night programme returns with a four-film blast highlighting the work of director Gakuryu Ishii, known as Sogo Ishii earlier in his career. The best-known flick here is 1980's Crazy Thunder Road, the then 23-year-old Ishii's graduation project that's often described as a low-budget, more punk and more brutal Mad Max, complete with wild biker gangs and off-the-hook militias, but you can also look forward to dystopian punk musical-meets-biker epic Burst City (1982), short film Shuffle (1981) and The Crazy Family (1984).
