Five films about happiness by the French New Wave's premier director couple are screened at Shibuya's Image Forum at the height of summer. Jacques Demy and Agnes Varda left an indelible mark on the 1960s movement, with films such as Lola (1961), directed by Demy and restored for re-release by Varda in the 1990s, and 1963 gambling drama Bay of Angels, which starred Jeanne Moreau in one of the great actress's finest performances. This programme also includes Varda's Demy biopic Jacquot de Nantes (1991), Cléo from 5 to 7 (1962) and Le Bonheur (1965), all screened with Japanese subtitles only.
