Kuzoku Saga Programme

Celebrating the domestic release of Bangkok Nites, director Katsuya Tomita's latest effort, Uplink is taking a look back at the 20-year history of Kuzoku, the border-crossing collective of independent filmmakers formed by Tomita. All nine flicks produced by Kuzoku so far will be screened over two May weeks – highlights include Saudade (2011), a lengthy exploration of the hip hop scene and social conflicts in Kofu, and Off Highway 20 (2007), which documents the journey of two old friends through the underbelly of suburban Japan.
