Time Out says

A Portuguese film festival held in celebration of 150 years of peace, friendship, and treaty between Portugal and Japan (a relationship that dates all the way back to when a Portuguese ship carrying a number of western goods, including firearms, arrived on Tanegashima Island in 1943). In addition to celebrating 150 years of trade between the two nations, the film festival also aims to deepen understanding of Portuguese culture and art in Japan through the medium of film. With an emphasis on films made by legendary Portuguese film director Manoel de Oliveira (a man who continues to make films at 101 years of age) and films made by a number of up and coming, younger directors, the festival will screen a total of 17 films.
