Shimokitazawa Film Festival

Shimokita gets some added cinematic flavour during the ninth edition of this weekend celebration, which aims to provide a showcase for up-and-coming domestic directors. This year's competition will be judged by Rikiya Imaizumi of Their Distance (2015) fame. Nine films will be vying for the grand prize, while a series of other screenings are also set for the three-day run. If you're looking to discover fresh filmmakers and don't mind the lack of subtitles, this one should be well worth checking out.
