Soviet Film Classics: Adventure and Sci-fi

Expand your cinematic horizons at the Athénée Français Cultural Center near Suidobashi Station, where nine classics of sci-fi made in the USSR will be shown over six days. There are three screenings daily, and the programme includes wonders such as 1924 silent flick Aelita, considered the first Soviet space film ever, 1979 android opera Inquest of Pilot Pirx, based on a Stanisław Lem short story and featuring music by the great Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, and surreal 'first contact' story Dr. Iven's Silence (1973).

See the full programme here, and note that all films will be shown with Japanese subtitles only.
