If you’re keen to go camping, but can’t bring yourself to give up all your creature comforts, try this indoor glamping experience instead. From August 1 to 6, Hotel Gajoen Tokyo in Meguro will host Beer Glamping 2021, a special event where you can enjoy a campside atmosphere, plus food and soft drinks with all the comfort of a hotel – without staying overnight.
Note that due to current Covid-19 restrictions on alcohol service, there's not as much beer on offer as you might expect. However, the hotel will serve a selection of non-alcoholic beers and cocktails.
The hotel has transformed one of its banquet halls into a real campsite with tents, tables and other camping goods from manufacturer Tenmac Design. At night, you can look at the starry sky projected onto the banquet hall’s 7.8m-high ceiling.
The menu includes grilled sausages, fresh veggies, caesar salad and classic camp sweets like chocolate and banana s'mores and baked apple pie. There are two sessions for lunch (¥4,900 and ¥1,900 for elementary school students; 11am-1pm and 1.30pm-3.30pm), a dessert-only service for afternoon tea (¥2,500; 4pm-5pm), and a dinner plan (¥7,900 and ¥2,900 for elementary school students; 6pm-9pm).
You can book your indoor camping experience on Hotel Gajoen Tokyo’s website.
