The Nutcracker Afternoon Tea by The Tokyo Ballet

Mercure Tokyo Hibiya’s La Scène restaurant is offering a Nutcracker-themed Christmas afternoon tea created in collaboration with The Tokyo Ballet. Inspired by the stage design for Act 2 of The Nutcracker, ‘Land of Sweets’, the afternoon tea features elegant ballerina-inspired sweets, colourful tarts, mousse desserts shaped like the Nutcracker’s hat, and even a festive parfait styled like a Christmas tree. Savouries take cues from the various countries of the dancers who appear in ‘Land of Sweets’, with dishes like foie gras mille-feuille, Spanish octopus and potato, Chinese-style shrimp cocktails and more. The tea set comes with free-flow drinks, including speciality lattes inspired by the characters from the play. While you’re there, don’t miss the gorgeous Christmas decorations in the lobby, featuring ornaments by French ballet shoe brand Repetto, as well as actual ballet costumes from Tokyo Ballet’s collection beside the pink-wrapped Christmas tree.
