Just by looking at the large number of upcoming hotels opening up in Ueno, it’s no joke that this area is becoming a Tokyo hotspot for travellers looking for a convenient location and a good night’s sleep. Visitors can also take a step back in time to experience the shitamachi flair of the Taito area and all its history at this new accommodation. Scheduled to open on the first of November, Nohga Hotel houses 130 rooms over 10 floors and truly lets guests feel the unique identity of Ueno by showcasing collaborations with artists and manufacturers from around the local Taito ward including Kimoto Glassware to product designer SyuRo. Responsible for the hotel’s interior design is also Idee founder Teruo Kurosaki, who plans on rotating the art pieces displayed around the hotel several times a year.
