What better way to kick off Tokyo Rainbow Pride festivities than with a drag queen showdown? This weekend, Sparkle event organisers are hosting a fierce battle between a group of up-and-coming Tokyo drag queens led by Miss Leading and co-hosted by local legends Vera Strondh, Sera Tonin and Labianna Joroe. Contestants will be judged on their costumes, dance moves and lip-sync skills, with the top two advancing to the final competition at the Opulence drag queen event at Zepp Shinjuku on May 19.
Fresh-faced performers who will be competing in this round include Meringue, Jessica Jewelry Savannah, Anja Vougsh and Derek Toro, followed by a line-up of local DJs to keep the energy high. Tickets are available online for ¥3,800 and at the door for ¥4,500 per person. Please note that guests will be required to purchase one drink upon entry.
