Time Out says

Solo karaoke may sound like a pretty lonely kind of fun, but it's proving increasingly big business in Tokyo. While the extravagant Karaoke Adores Akihabara has two floors' worth of single-occupancy rooms, the newish 1Kara Akihabara is designed exclusively for solo singers. Each booth comes equipped with a TV screen, microphone and small mixer, but the familiar speakers have been replaced with a pair of headphones (tip: bring your own pair with you if you want to avoid paying an additional rental fee). While 1Kara's other branches in Shibuya, Ikebukuro, Kanda and Shinjuku seemed aimed more at office workers and housewives, the latest one is clearly angling at the otaku crowd. If you're determined to nail the theme song from Fist of the North Star, or just want to warble Hatsune Miku songs without your friends laughing at you, this is the place to head.
