Omiya Hachimangu

The spacious and lush grounds of this huge suburban shrine host several deities, including Sugawara no Michizane, the god of learning, as well as a bamboo forest, a kindergarten, and much more. It's location in the geographic centre of the city has given it the nickname 'The Navel of Tokyo'. Visitors will do well to enter from the east, as the path from that direction boasts two impressive torii gates and some seriously majestic trees. Formerly part of the shrine grounds, the city-run Wadabori Park is right around the corner.
