As a percussionist, composer and multi-instrumentalist, Abdou Mboup helped steer traditional Senegalese music into modernity, and has gone on to collaborate with everyone from Talking Heads to Harry Belafonte. He's the special guest at this celebration of African culture, which starts with live music and then continues as a DJ-driven all-nighter. Mboup will be playing with Tokyo groove band Light Combo, and you can also expect a performance from what must be one of Japan's only Sengalese Sabar-style dance troupes, Tangana Jer. DJs including Cyril Coppini and Raphael Sebbag take over after 11pm, though there's more drumming and dancing promised in the wee hours of the morning.
