When you debut with a record as insouciant as CSS's Cansei de Ser Sexy, it's hard to know where to go next. These Brazilian party-starters may have outlived the new rave movement with which they were initially grouped, but they've audibly struggled to push things forward on follow-up albums Donkey (2008) and La Liberación (2011)m and the acrimonious departure of longtime bassist Adriano Cintra last autumn probably didn't help. Watch them live, mind you, and such concerns are rendered moot: aided by the consistently madcap antics of singer Lovefoxxx, CSS remain one of the most downright fun bands on the gig circuit right now. It ain't clever, but they like it that way.
