Date Course Pentagon Royal Garden

Naruyoshi Kikuchi's prog-jazz ensemble went on hiatus in 2007, only to return at a rain-drenched gig at Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall last autumn. The resurgent Date Course Pentagon Royal Garden boasts an almost entirely new lineup of musicians, with only keyboardist Masayasu Tzboguchi, percussionist Gen Ogimi and saxman Kenta Tsugami continuing from the band's first incarnation. However, the song remains the same, and fans of '70s big-band funk, electric-era Miles Davis and Mahavishnu Orchestra should find plenty to enjoy here. The group are playing a day earlier at Fuji Rock Festival, so they should be nicely warmed up for the occasion, too.
