Californian alt metal outfit Deftones will play their first Japanese headline shows in 15 years this May. The upcoming tour is in support of their latest album Private Music, which earned the band a Grammy nomination and is their first to feature touring bassist Fred Sablan. Deftones have been coming to Japan since the late ’90s and have built a consistently loyal audience here, but since 2011, their appearances in the country have been limited to festivals like Ozzfest and Knotfest. Now, with a new record under their belts, one considered by many to be among their best, the long wait is over for Japan-based fans.
