Time Out says

Floating Points is the name that Manchester-born Sam Shepherd uses when he’s not pursuing his other professional interest – neuroscience. The PhD-holding DJ had already released a stack of floor-focused 12-inches when his 2015 debut album Elaenia took the freewheeling Floating Points vibe to the next level, weaving together live cellos, voyaging synths, Rhodes piano and post-rock arrangements into a seven-track treat aimed at the head, not the hips. Catch Shepherd's critically praised live show in October, when he takes on Shibuya as part of new joint WWW X's opening celebration gig series.
