Throughout his decades-long career, Gilles Peterson has been known for promoting brand-new sounds to the general public. With popular programs on Jazz FM, BBC Radio and his own SoundCloud account, the French-born, British-based DJ and producer has been introducing jazz, electronic music and hip hop to a larger audience.
Peterson is not an unknown figure for music lovers in Japan. His music program for Tokyo’s J-Wave radio and appearances in major festivals in the country has cemented his reputation amongst the locals. He hopes to continue wowing the Japanese audience with a jazz-themed performance at Contact in Shibuya on October 12.
